The ultimate objective of the SDF team is the development Management specifications for converged service platforms. These specifications will be derived from extensions to existing TM Forum specifications as well as new specifications for areas which TM forum has not previously covered (such as content-based services). In addition there are linkages being developed to work items in other Industry Groups who are also engaged upon SDF-related developments.
For the above reason close working relationship are being established in may areas including other parts of TM Forum’s Collaboration Program. Specific areas include:
- Catalyst projects – these include new projects which carry out practical proof-of-concept demonstrations of the SDF specification work. Also past projects whose work was related to SDF developments and therefore can be mined for their underlying Requirements and partial Solutions to SDF Management specifications.
- Framework items such as eTOM, SID and TAM – where Gaps and associated Requirements are being generated to allow the continued use of the framework items to be employed for Management of SDF. A particular example of this is the extension of these framework items to support Content Management.
