| Definition of the business problem |
Today, service providers are demanding network/service business processes automation to improve operational efficiency, in turn driving the need for improved integration between operational support systems. One particular area of focus for service providers is the integration of inventory systems for communication networks with management systems that control network resources. The Prosspero Open Inventory Management Interface for Communication Networks fills this industry need, providing an extensible interface that is independent of the transport, middleware and computing language, and is, as a result, reducing integration tax.

| Scope of the solution |
The Prosspero Open Inventory Management Interface, based on version 1.1 of the successful TM Forum MTOSI interface, provides a read-only exchange of network resource information, (physical and logical network inventory) through an extensible management interface.
- The Open Inventory Management Interface supports Use Cases:
- Inventory update notifications (through a discovery process)
- Inventory retrieval.
- This solution provides a management interface that can be used to support a variety of OS types.

Using the Open Inventory Management Interface, there are three ways to initiate a discovery process:
- Demand Based - Solicited
- Schedule Based – Solicited
- Event Based – Unsolicited, subscribed (Example. Whenever an event is captured by an EMS, such as a card being plugged in a network element)
|
| Each of these processes implements a ‘subscription/request -with- asynchronous response’ pattern. |
