The Telco 2.0 5th Executive Brainstorm session, taking place Nov. 4-5 in London, aims to tackle the tough subject of the shifting communications value chain with the theme of “Reducing Friction in the Digital Economy.”
The event, which will host about 250 participants from across the telecom, media, retail, financial services, government and technology sectors, will focus on enabling innovative end user services, exploiting new digital distribution systems and streamlining business processes and customer interactions.
Speakers at this event, which will feature a unique interactive format, include Jim Warner, Vice Chairman and Chief Strategist at TM Forum and Rob Rich, Managing Director of TM Forum’s new Transformation Resource Center and TM Forum Insights.
Because of TM Forum’s experience with reaching across the telecom, cable and media industries to forge a win-win situation among value chain players and ensure a stellar customer experience, Warner and Rich will be able to speak to the topic of examining where friction in the value chain lies, how it is costing people lost opportunities and money, and what TM Forum and its members are doing to try and smooth the road.
At a time when the traditional telecommunications value chain as we knew it no longer exists, telcos and service providers have been forced to reinvent themselves in order to remain relevant and avoid being defined as nothing more than a bit carrier.
These incumbent operators and providers are finding that the old linear, static value chain that might have had just a couple of partners is dead and that today they be part of a different value chain for every single service they provide.
This new digital media services value chain – which includes everything from the creation through delivery and consumption and monetization content-based services – is full of bumps and potholes, however. Manual processes, unique requirements, proprietary formats and players trying to muscle each other has resulted in an environment where profits are hard to come by and the user experience is less than optimal.
To grow in the digital economy, operators need to leverage their unexploited assets and capabilities in order to truly reduce value chain friction. By attending the Telco 2.0 Executive Brainstorm, you will have a front-row seat to coming up with the solutions that may solve these problems now and in the future.
